Professor IF PAN Carmine Autieri

Carmine Autieri, born in 1984, completed his Ph.D. in Physics in 2012 at the University of Salerno, Italy. He got the Polish habilitation and the Italian habilitation for associate professor on November 2020, and Italian habilitation for full professor in theoretical condensed matter physics on January 2023. From 2012 to 2018, we covered the Postdoc positions at the Jülich Forschungszentrum (Germany), Uppsala University (Sweden) and SPIN-CNR (Italy). In June 2018, he became an assistant professor in Magtop with the duty of expert in ab-initio. On 1 February 2022, he became Group leader and Associate Professor at the „International Centre for Interfacing Magnetism and Superconductivity with Topological Matter” (Magtop). Magtop is a division of the Instytut Fizyki Polskiej Akademii Nauk. He is currently the leader of the group ON6.5 which is composed of two postdoc researchers and two Ph.D. students in 2023. The website of the MagTop division is https://magtop.ifpan.edu.pl

On two occasions in 2014-2015, he was a guest at the Seagate Company in Derry (UK) working on simulations about the perpendicular magnetic record and the heat-assisted magnetic record technology. He was visiting scientist at the Physics Department, Modena (Italy), Jagiellonian University (Poland), Universität zu Köln (Germany), Linnaeus University (Sweden) and Oxide SuperSpin (UK/Italy/Japan).

His research interests include the interplay between magnetism, spin-orbit coupling and crystal symmetries studied via first-principles that generates k-space topology, Rashba effect and Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction. Additionally, he investigated the transport properties such as Anomalous Hall Effect, Quantum Anomalous Hall effect and Quantum Spin Hall effect in bulk and interfaces. Recently, he is also focusing his research on the altermagnetism.

In June 2023, he is the author or co-author of over 85 publications with a total impact factor of around 350 points. He was cited over 1200 times, and resulting in the h-factor of 21 on Google Scholar. Other information about citation metrics will be found with Scopus Author ID: 36930091600, ORCID: 0000-0002-5008-8165 and ResearcherID: N-5259-2017.

In 2015, he is a recipient of the MARIE CURIE Fellowship as part of the EU-funded project „New Materials for High Moment Poles and Shields” (NU-MATHIMO). FP7-PEOPLE-2013-IAPP – Marie Curie Action: „Industry-Academia Partnerships and Pathways”. He was awarded with the “Della Riccia” postdoctoral fellowship (2012), he was supported by the Carl Tryggers Stiftelse (2014, 2015), winner of SEED project in CNR, Italy (2018) and was a beneficiary of two ERASMUS+ grants (2022). He got the Scientific Award from the Institute of Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences for the best habilitation thesis of 2020 and best paper of 2021.

Carmine Autieri has presented 7 invited talks at international meetings and he was conference chair of the conference meeting “Interfacing magnetism and superconductivity with topological matter” held in Warsaw (Poland) on 17-18 January 2023. He was the auxiliary supervisor of the following 2 master students. He was the supervisor of one Ph.D. student and currently, he is the supervisor of 3 Ph.D. students. He is a referee of international journals: Phys. Rev. X, Phys. Rev. Lett., ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, 2D materials, Advanced Electronic Materials etc.
