Personal scientific input
V. Volobuev has nearly-25-year research experience in molecular beam epitaxy (MBE), magnetism, structural characterization and studying band structure in topological materials using ARPES. Currently, he is an effective scientist and instructor at MagTop centre IF PAS. His current research is devoted to the search for novel phenomena and phases in chalcogenide materials with strong spin-orbit interaction, including topological materials with Dirac-like dispersion, Rashba ferroelectric and multiferroic semiconductors, multiple-stable-state antiferromagnetic semiconductors, perovskite heterostructures. These materials are of interest for the development of semiconductor quantum computing, spinitronics, thermoelectrics, and optics and require highly multidisciplinary research skills that he has acquired during his work. His main research field is MBE and for the last 10 years, he has developed this method for reproducible growth and doping of topological insulators nanostructures, based on chalcogenide materials achieving a good crystal quality and low carrier concentrations of the samples.
